How to play

The basics

On a computer, hover a tile to preview the move (the result shows faintly, merged items are outlined) and click to place the item shown in Place. On a touch screen, tap to preview and tap again to place. Turn Preview off to place with one tap.
Connect 3 or more identical items (up, down, left, right) and all of them merge into one of the next tier on the tile you tapped (4 or 5 pay more points and coins, nothing is left over):
🌱 → 🌿 → 🌳 → 🏕️ → 🛖 → 🏠 → 🏘️ → 🏫 → 🏥 → 🏬 → 💵 cash: tap it to collect coins.
Tap the ⇄ button between Place and Next (or the Next item itself) to swap them (free, as often as you like). The Reserve slot (left of Place) stores the current item for later (free swap). Undo takes back your last move, or your last 🚚 / 🔨 / 🪤 use, for a few coins (one step only).
The game ends when the board is full and you cannot afford a hammer.

Animals

🐻 Bears wander one step each turn. Box one in so it cannot move and it becomes a 🪦 (bears sharing a pocket that still has room are safe). Three connected 🪦 merge into ⛪, three ⛪ into 🕌, three 🕌 into a 💰 treasure: tap it to open it for coins.
🦊 The fox never walks: every turn it warps to a random empty tile (never into a hole it could not get out of). Corner it, though: when walls and items close it in on every side (or you fill the last free tile of its box) it becomes a 🪦, and so does a fox on a full board. The 🪤 trap kills it anywhere.
🪤 Free traps: now and then (about 1 turn in 30) the queue brings a free 🪤 trap for your stock, so foxes never pile up for good. 🦊 foxes are rare, and 💎 gems turn up now and then (the shop sells them for about the price of a house).
🌿 Calm mode (pick No bears and/or No foxes in New): the switched-off animals never appear. With both off there is nothing to interrupt you, and no trap tool. These games keep their own best score.
🐻💢 Wild bears (pick it in New): a bear that cannot step but is not sealed in gets angry (💢, then 💢💢) and on the third turn mauls a 🌱🌿🌳🏕️🛖 next to it one tier down (a 🌱 is destroyed, which opens an escape hole), then starts over. Houses and everything above are safe. In a small pen (4 to 6 tiles) holding 2 bears and 2 free tiles, a cub is sometimes born 🍼.
🐺 Animals follow the season: the bear is a 🐗 boar and the fox a 🦝 raccoon in autumn, a 🐺 wolf and a 🐇 rabbit in winter (🐻 and 🦊 in spring and summer). Only the looks change, the rules do not.
🏆 Quests (top, next to the World): a list of quests and achievements with your progress, saved across games and regions. Four of them give a title you can pick in New (a game with a title has its own best score): 🏹 Bears Hunter (trap 100 bears: 30% fewer bears), 🦅 Hawkeyes (trap 25 foxes: half the foxes), 🌊 Master of Tides (dig a 4×4 lake: more and higher lucky drops on maps with their own water) and 🪙 Gold Keeper (fill all three bank accounts with 🪙1M in one game: no deposit fee and double interest).

Maps and water

🌍 World (top, next to the item guide): a 3×3 map of regions, each its own game with its own save. The Meadow in the middle is calm (no bears or foxes). The four regions beside it open when you have built a 🏘️ village in the Meadow, and each corner (wild bears, the hard ones) opens when you have built a 🏫 school in a neighbouring side region. Your bank accounts and treasury are shared by every region, so coins earned in the Meadow can pay for a harsh corner. Custom game in the world screen is the normal New game with any map and animals, kept separate (it is also where a shared seed link plays). New players start in the Meadow.
🗺️ Maps (also in New): Easy is a plain field, Standard starts with a few plants, Medium has a river across the biggest board (8×8, all land already bought), Hard has random ponds, Highlands has mountains and holes, Island is the biggest board, mostly sea (see below). Blue tiles are water: nothing can be placed, merged, moved or smashed there, and animals cannot enter it. Use the 🌉 bridge tool (up to 8, dearer each time) on a water tile that has land on both sides, up/down or left/right (never a corner or the middle of wide water; a bridge counts as land, so wide water opens up one tile at a time): it becomes a road that bears can walk over, but nothing can be built on it. Three or more bridged tiles in a straight line are a long bridge: it glows gold and pays coins every turn (about 1/400 of your best building's shop price per tile).
💧 Ponds (shop): dig a pond on an empty tile. It stays for the whole game, takes a tile away, and pays points and coins every turn, but only while it is inside a 3×3 block of dug ponds (a 4×4 pays all 16; the map's own water never pays): points about 5% of your best building's value per paying pond, coins about 1/400 of its shop price. Lake quests: the pond that completes a 2×2, then a 3×3, then a 4×4 block of water pays a one-off bonus of coins and points. The first pond costs only 60 coins, then each one is dearer; there is no limit once the lakes are built, only your coins and free tiles. Animals cannot cross water, and a bear or fox shut in by ponds is trapped like anywhere else.
⛰️ Highlands: mountains ⛰️ are walls (nothing can be built on them, the hammer and the mover leave them alone, animals cannot enter) until you flatten one with the ⛏️ Level tool for coins (🪙150, then dearer each time). A hole 🕳️ is a wall for animals, but you can place any item into it: the item is used up, the tile becomes flat ground and a turn passes.
🏝️ Island: the biggest board (8×8), all sea except a small island of 16 to 20 tiles (a new shape every game). Land cannot be bought and the sea cannot be bridged, but the Reclaim tool (shop) turns a sea tile next to the land into new ground: glowing tiles show where, each one dearer than the last (🪙60, then ×1.1). Only the ponds you dig count for lake quests there, not the sea.
